THE ANGLO-SAXONS

Did you know?

Most warriors of the Anglo-Saxons were actually farmers or other workers when they were not fighting .

The most common enemy of the Anglo-Saxons was the Vikings.

Helmets were worn and called helms. They were worn as well as chain mail armor.

Helmets had cheek flaps, but left most of the front of the face exposed.

Armies were small, a few hundred at most.

Though poems and tales would make it seem differently, major battles were rare and happened about every 20 years.

Social disgrace to not avenge death of a family member.

Every free man was expected to fight and had been trained since teenage years.
